It's 4 am do you know what is in your bed? Kittens in Kigali, Rwanda

It's 4 am - You won't Believe what I found in my BED!

I don't believe this myself. I am looking at these furry animals that made me jump out of my bed at 4 am and I still can't believe it! So, here is the story, please let me know what you'd do, especially if you are a cat person because I am not. More of a dog person, I know nothing about cats, I even used to be allergic to them.

So, I moved to Kigali, Rwanda, about three months ago. I found a decent two bedroom with quite a nice size garden in the neighborhood of Kibagabaga. I choose the groundfloor because of the garden. The garden even has a fireplace.

A view of my garden and the fire place.

Anyway, every now and then I see cats. They stroll around the garden and that is fine with me. A few times, I saw one on my porch sleeping on one of the chairs comfortably on its cushion. I thought, o, ok, so you found a spot but the cat would run every time she saw me. At one point I think there must have been two different cats but now I am not sure.

Since I like a nice breeze and the house can get too warm if everthing is closed up, the windows are usually wide open. One time, in my bedroom the cat scared the heck out of me when she was apparently sleeping behind the curtain on my suitcase! I didn't see her, I saw movement, let out a scream and gone she was.

The window near the kitchen that is where she comes in.

One morning when I woke up the cat was on my coach, in the livingroom! I was like, noo, we're not going to do that but before I could say or do anything, the cat jumped out of the window! These were all incidentents that just happened few weeks apart, so, I didn't really make a fuzz about it.

Yesterday though, while I was sitting in the livingroom, the cat just jumped on the window and walked in with what I thought was a mouse in his mouth. O boy, it was 1 am, the whole complex in deep rest, so I was trying not to yell but ooooh was I scared!

Not knowing what to do, I was just running up and down, yelling noo, no you can't do this, noo, no, nooo. I am terrified of mice! Luckily somehow, she got it, jumped out of the window again and was gone. Pffeww. Now, I did close the window. No way the cat could come in anymore. Still with my heart pounding, I went off to bed.

She took over. I am scared to disturb mom cat. The babies are super cute.

I did have the window of my bedroom open but for some reason my mind was in denial and for no reason, I thought, no, the cat is not going to come back. I don't know how a cat's mind works but she left, hearing me yell, so why would she be coming into my bedroom. Ah, where would we be without logical thinking. It did put me at ease and got me to sleep.

About 4 am, when I got up to go to the bathroom and was just about to lie down again, I saw three things that did not belong on the bed. It was dark, so I was thinking, what is that? What did I leave on the bed, I reached out then jumped out and screamed. These were furry things! Alive and well. In my bed, the bed I was just sleeping in!

Gosh, I must have I a strong heart or I would have gotten a heart attack, right there and then. Wide awake I ran into the livingroom, heart pouding, thinking. There were 3 little baby cats sleepig in my bed. When I peaked again they didn't seem to have a care in the world while I was freaked out. What to do?

I didn't want to wakeup the whole world at this ungodly hour. Thankful for my spare bedroom, I went to sleep there thinking, I'll deal with this later.

Just waking up, opening my bedroom door, mother cat is looking at me as she has taken over my bed with her three babies. I still honestly don't know what to do. I am not trying to disturb them, so I didn't even brush me teeth writing this but I know something needs to happen.

My brother in Amsterdam, also has cats coming to his garden all the time. He said, his collegue who is a cat person told him that he has great energy if the cats keep coming while he isn't even feeding them. I didn't feed the cat either.

So, if you are a cat person, please explain to me, is this good energy and what is the best thing to do? Help!!! This dog person is losing a battle against a mother cat.
