The very first time I got my natural hair professionally styled was at the very first hair show I ever attended in New York. The natural hairstylist was Netu.
When they announced that they were looking for models, they didn't have to ask me twice. Although considered myself the master of the Afro and the twist out, my styling skills were pretty limited. Creating straight parts proved to be too much of a challenge as were the neatly evenly cornrows. So, when I heard that they were looking for hair models, I eagerly volunteerd.
To be honest, I had no idea what to expect but super eager for a new style, I just trusted the process and I am glad I did.
My very 1st professionally styled natural hairdo by Netu
Specialized in Flat Twists, Netu transformed my about 10 cm Afro into this Flat Twisted Updo in less than two hours. I was amazed! My hair had never been styled like this before.
Natural Hairstylists
Since then I became fascinated with Natural Hairstylists. I realized that while most of us were busy straightening our hair, they refined their craft against societal standards. They laid the foundation for the natural hair world we live in today.
So, I made it a habbit to at least once a year, get a hairstyle I never had before. The advantage of natural hair is that you can change up your stile dramatically whithout the need for chemicals, a cut or color.
With only a few inches of Afro hair, a good stylist can transform you simply with Bantu knots, cornrows or flat twists.
Naturally, Netu became one of my regular hairstylists. She did my hair quite a few times.

Flat Twists a few tips
A Flat Twist Updo can last you up to three, even four weeks if you take care of the style. Sleeping with a bonnet helps kept the style neatly in place. We have two types available in the store. Click to ceck them out: Satin Bonnet and 100% Mulberry Silk Bonnet.
The only other item that I didn't have back then that I wish I had now is the Scalp roller. The Scalp roller stimulates hair growth and helps to keep the scalp fresh and healthy.
