As a natural hair activist who has been advocating for equal hair rights and celebrating our hairstyles for over two decades, I am always looking for the best stories to share.

How to Participate

All you need to do is record a video answering the following questions about your loc journey. Here are the prompts to guide your story:

  1. Can you please introduce yourself? Share your name, where you’re from, and what you do. Let’s get to know you!

  2. When and why did you start your loc journey? Everyone has a unique reason for starting locs. Tell us what inspired you.

  3. What has been the most challenging part of your loc journey? We’d love to hear about any hurdles you’ve faced and how you overcame them.

  4. Have you noticed any changes in how people, especially the opposite sex, interact with you since growing your locs? Share your experience and how your locs have influenced these interactions.

  5. Have you ever experienced discrimination because of your locs? If so, would you mind sharing your experience? Your story can shine a light on the realities of loc discrimination and inspire change.

  6. What do you love most about growing and having locs? Let’s celebrate the joy locs bring to your life!

  7. Is there anything else you’d like to share about your loc journey? The floor is yours. Feel free to add anything you think is important.

  8. Finish this sentence: 'I love my locs because...'” This is the perfect way to end your story on an uplifting note.
