2025 Recap – What We’ve Built and How We Grow
When I left New York, I didn’t leave you behind — and thankfully, you didn’t let me go.
You followed along, we stayed connected, and the community even expanded.
What began years ago as a blog and a shop has grown into something much larger. Today, we are a global community of over 30,000 people worldwide — connected by hair, culture, curiosity, and the desire to show up as ourselves.
Different cities.
Different time zones.
One ongoing conversation.
Thank you for this.
BAD Hair Uprooted: From Exhibition to Legacy
One of the most meaningful shifts this year was watching BAD Hair Uprooted grow beyond an exhibition.
What started as a visual and cultural project continued to deepen into something more enduring: a legacy project rooted in history, health, and collective memory.
In 2025, BAD Hair Uprooted moved through academic and cultural spaces — including the University of Amsterdam and Keti Koti — opening conversations that go far beyond aesthetics. We made the news paper with the headline Natural Hair is a Human Right.
We talked about hair as heritage.
About identity and health.
About the long shadow of colonial norms.
And about why equal hair rights are still not a given.
The work is no longer only about showing images.
It’s about building an archive, contributing to dialogue, and creating something that can outlive a single moment or exhibition.
Many of you shared how these conversations resonated — not just intellectually, but personally. That exchange is what continues to shape this work.
The Store: Listening, Learning, and Responding
Another thing 2025 made clear is how much the store has become a conversation — not just a place to buy.
You let me know that:
-
The Loc Glove became a staple
-
The hair cuffs stood out as pieces you loved and returned for
-
The hair serum found its place in your routines
And again and again, you asked one question:
“Are the loc bombs coming back?”
I’m happy to finally say: yes — they are.
That kind of feedback doesn’t go unnoticed. It shapes what stays, what returns, and how this space continues to grow.

We bundled these bestsellers for you! The Hair Serum and Scalp Roller Bundle.

To make sure we stay connected, I shared more about my Life Behind The Scenes. From King’s Day in Amsterdam to Business Heroes in Kigali, these were just some of the moments many of you appreciated — a glimpse into the daily life of a social entrepreneur.
With new clips, stories, and photos almost every day, I also opened up a more direct way to stay in touch through my WhatsApp Broadcast. It’s a quieter space where I can share updates as they unfold — without everything getting lost in an algorithm.
Thank you for choosing to stay close and be part of the What Naturals Love we’re building together.
